Psychological support for parenthood in confinement

Psychological support for parenthood in confinement

Under normal circumstances, being a parent is not always easy. With confinement, the task becomes even harder. How to reorganise a family balance affected by the health crisis? The unprecedented situation we are going through leads some parents to ask for assistance. Many are suffering, lost, and no longer know how to deal with their child. Everything on a daily basis is a potential source of tension.

Dealing with children, teleworking, the home, distanced schooling, conflicts, separation from the family of origin, confinement, lack of activity for the children and the boredom that often results from it. In this context of confinement, without perspectives, family life can become trying and sometimes guilt-ridden. Where work and school allowed each person to separate, breathe and get along with each other better, the spaces and rhythms of each merge.

This can contribute to increasing conflict. To deal with the family consequences of confinement, the French school is providing a free listening and support platform which allows parents, and more generally families, to exchange with a French clinical psychologist: accompaniment, implementation of concrete techniques to alleviate tension, and if necessary give advice and guidance. The interviews by appointment, require a quiet and isolated place for a duration of about 1 hour, and takes place in accordance with the code of ethics of psychologists guaranteeing the respect of professional secrecy.
