🎶 Chante fort, chante francophone – French Songs Contest 2026

As part of French Language and Francophonie Week 2026, and following the success of previous editions, we are pleased to invite schools to take part in the French Songs Contest 2026.

This event celebrates the French language through music, creativity, and collective performance, bringing together young voices from different schools for two days of vibrant Francophonie.

Competition Dates

  • Wednesday 19 March 2026 – Primary Schools
  • Thursday 20 March 2026 – Secondary Schools

Each school is invited to present a group performance of a French-language song, with a maximum of 15 students per group.

Participation Rules

  • Songs must be performed in French (all musical styles accepted).
  • Performances must be group performances only, from trios to choirs. No solo or duo performances.
  • All singers and musicians must be students of the participating school.
  • Accompaniment options include:
    • A cappella
    • Recorded instrumental MP3 (no added vocals)
    • Live musicians or orchestra
    • Traditional and modern instruments (mbira, marimbas, guitar, piano, etc.)
  • Schools must bring their own instruments and sound equipment if specific equipment is required.
  • Choreography, staging, and theatrical elements are free and encouraged.

Registration & Important Deadlines

  • Registration deadline: 15 January 2026
    (The registration form must be signed by the headmaster/headmistress. No late registrations will be accepted.)
  • Song title and lyrics submission: Friday 13 February 2026
  • Teachers’ coordination meeting:
    Monday 16 February 2026 at 2:00 pm at the French School
    (Organisation details, performance schedules, and technical arrangements will be discussed.)
  • Final withdrawal deadline: 20 February 2026
    (No withdrawals will be accepted after this date.)
