Taste Week 2025 at the French School of Harare

From October 13 to 17, 2025, the French School of Harare will be transformed into a world of colors, aromas, and tastes as students take part in La Semaine du Goût (Taste Week) — a week-long celebration dedicated to discovering flavors, nutrition, and culinary traditions from around the globe.

This event, beloved by both students and teachers, is designed to cultivate curiosity about food and encourage healthy eating habits, all while making learning fun and delicious.

In kindergarten, children will embark on a series of playful and educational activities — from visiting a local market to preparing fresh fruit juices and baking pastries. They’ll also enjoy sharing homemade breakfasts and dishes prepared by parents, turning each day into a sensory adventure.

The elementary classes will follow the exciting theme “One Day, One Taste”, exploring a new type of food each day:

  • Monday: Dairy products
  • Tuesday: Fruits and vegetables
  • Wednesday: Cakes or family-prepared dishes (no processed food)
  • Thursday: Dried fruits

To conclude the week, on Friday at noon, families are invited to attend a special tasting event where students will proudly showcase their culinary creations — including fruit skewers, cakes, and toasts — and present them in French using newly learned vocabulary.

More than just a food event, Taste Week is a wonderful opportunity for our young learners to develop their senses, creativity, and cultural appreciation through gastronomy. It’s a week that reminds us all that learning can be both educational and delicious!
