On Thursday, 19 March 2026, the spirit of Francophonie came alive at the French International School of Harare, as it proudly hosted the Primary Schools French Songs Contest. The event transformed the school grounds into a vibrant hub of music, language, and cultural expression, bringing together young talents from across Zimbabwe.
From the very first performance, it was clear that this was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of unity, creativity, and the joy of learning through music. Pupils, teachers, and guests alike were immersed in an atmosphere filled with excitement, pride, and a shared passion for the French language.

A total of 17 primary schools from Harare and surrounding areas participated in the competition, each delivering captivating performances that showcased both linguistic ability and artistic creativity. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with excitement, pride, and a shared love for music and Francophone culture.
The occasion was graced by the distinguished presence of the Ambassador of France to Zimbabwe, as well as the esteemed First Lady of Zimbabwe. Their attendance underscored the importance of fostering cultural exchange and promoting the French language within Zimbabwe’s education system.

Outstanding Performances and Winners
After a highly competitive and entertaining showcase, the results were announced:
- 1st Place: Grange Primary School
- 2nd Place: Hilbright Science College
- 3rd Place: Chivaraidze Primary School
These schools distinguished themselves through outstanding vocal performances, stage presence, and creative interpretation of French songs.



Other participating schools included Celebration International School, Millennial Junior School, Nattie Junior School Borrowdale, among others, all contributing to the diversity and success of the event.
