Celebrating Cultural Diversity: International Day at Groupe Scolaire Jean de la Fontaine

Last week, on November 2nd, Groupe Scolaire Jean de la Fontaine hosted a vibrant International Day, celebrating the many cultures represented within our community. This day has become a cherished tradition at our school, fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity while uniting students, families, and staff through food, music, and shared heritage.

A Joyous Procession and Cultural Showcase

The day began with an exciting parade, led by our Headmistress Laetitia Cibrario, and Ms. Melanie, where students marched across the campus holding flags from around the world. The procession, set to upbeat music, brought together students and teachers alike, setting the tone for a day of camaraderie, color, and pride in one’s roots.

A Global Feast

After the parade, everyone gathered to explore and enjoy the unique culinary offerings at the international food stands, each representing a different country. Parents and students prepared a wide variety of dishes—from savory to sweet—allowing attendees to experience flavors from around the globe. This year’s favorite, a traditional Chinese dish, won the day, with the French Ambassador proudly presenting the winning trophy, sponsored by AGS Global Movers, to a Chinese student on behalf of their country’s cuisine.

An Atmosphere of Unity

The day was filled with laughter, learning, and connection as families, staff, and students mingled, discovering new aspects of each other’s cultures and backgrounds.

International Day continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of cultural exchange and inclusivity, and we are grateful to all who made this event possible. Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and brought this event to life! We look forward to next year’s celebration and the memories it will bring.
